How ARG Works
Turning Motion Into Stability
Inside an ARG gyro stabilizer, a high-speed flywheel generates angular momentum. When the vessel begins to roll, the gyro responds through controlled gimbal movement, producing stabilizing torque that helps counteract the vessel's motion.
The result is a smoother, more comfortable ride with reduced vessel roll—helping everyone onboard stay comfortable and allowing the vessel to perform more effectively in challenging conditions.
The Science Behind Stabilization
Angular Momentum Meets Controlled Gimbal Motion
An ARG gyro creates stabilizing torque by combining the angular momentum of a rapidly rotating flywheel with the natural movement of its gimbal system. As the vessel rolls, the gyro responds through this movement, generating torque that counteracts the vessel's roll.
Angular Momentum
The rotating flywheel generates angular momentum. The faster the flywheel rotates and the greater its rotational inertia, the greater the angular momentum available to generate stabilizing torque.
Gimbal Motion
As the vessel rolls, the gyro's gimbal system allows the spinning flywheel to move naturally in response to the vessel's motion. This movement enables the flywheel's angular momentum to produce stabilizing torque.
Stabilizing Torque
The interaction between angular momentum and gimbal motion produces torque that acts against the vessel's roll, helping reduce unwanted movement and creating a more stable ride.

Tohmei's engineering background extends across aerospace, system products, and other demanding industries. This experience in precision manufacturing, control technology, and quality management provides the foundation for the ARG Anti Rolling Gyro.
ARG grew from gyro technology developed through aerospace attitude-control work for satellites. Tohmei carried that experience into marine stabilization, developing and manufacturing a practical gyro system designed to deliver reliable roll reduction in the demanding marine environment.
